Frequently asked questions

Who can join İnonest?
İnonest is open to international and Turkish students at Yıldız Technical University, with a focus on engineering programmes. We welcome members from all disciplines who want to contribute to Teknofest-ready projects.
Do I need Teknofest experience before joining?
Not at all. Our department leads are Teknofest finalists who onboard newcomers with foundational workshops, bilingual resources, and hands-on practice before integrating you into competition teams.
Why are sessions delivered in English?
İnonest was designed as YTU’s first English-led technical community so international students can fully participate while also improving technical terminology. Turkish support and translation are available when needed.
What is the time commitment?
Expect 4–6 hours per week during build seasons. Workshop-only participants can engage monthly, while competition teams meet multiple times each week for design reviews, simulations, and fabrication.
How does İnonest secure resources and funding?
We collaborate with YTU Teknopark, apply to Teknofest support programmes, and develop sponsorships with ministries and municipalities. Funds are ring-fenced for team materials, travel, and prototyping.
